Thank you for visiting my website. I’m Sarah and I have been baking my own bread for more that 10 years. The more I baked, the more I realised that there was a big difference between wrapped, sliced loaves and what I could produce at home – even with my old bread machine. And the more I baked, the more I wanted to learn about different types of bread, and what goes into industrial loaves. The bread machine was soon consigned to eBay and I began producing fully handmade long-fermented and sourdough bread. I would always bake several loaves at once to make the best use of the oven being on – and when there wasn’t room in the freezer I gave bread to friends, neighbours and family who soon started offering to pay for it.
Several years, lots of practice and a couple of courses down the line, and here it is – Real Bread handmade in Aspenden with as-local-as-possible ingredients without any artificial additives, processing aids, emulsifiers or enzymes. The best bread is simple – flour, water, salt and yeast – plus the magic ingredient: time.
